The Impact of Self-Monitoring Paired With Positive Reinforcement on Increasing Task Completion With A Student Diagnosed With Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Case Study

Jeremy R Mills

Abstract

It is not uncommon for students diagnosed with ASD to struggle with the ability to self-regulate on-task behavior and translates into failure within an academic setting. This case study implemented a single-subject withdraw design with repeated measures to evaluate the impact of self-monitoring paired with positive reinforcement on the task completion for a student diagnosed ASD. Results indicated that self-monitoring paired with positive reinforcement increased the student’s homework completion each time the intervention was presented
